Private Messages by snotling3

We use private messages to send messages to folks that might be afk and such.. here is a quick mod that does that. It uses mysql to keep track of the messages and who has messages waiting for them.

This is a support thread. You can ask questions about this mod, or request feature changes as you wish.

This is very useful. Will it be modified when bot user accounts are added? How about combined functionality with !seen?

I like the idea of combining it with !seen.

What specifics do you have for that functionality?

The older !seen module that I have from Manick responds like so in a notice.

-botname- nefus, I last saw user 5 days 18 hours 30 min 44 sec ago joining a channel.

!seen needs to be pretty persistant and recheck user lists if it lags out, joins any channel, leaves a channel ect. It would be nice if it would notice a registered user if somebody did a !seen looking for them.

in working with !seen, maybe the bot could check the authorized user account when someone joins the channel and check the private message queue and if they have a message waiting, send it to them.

This would allow me to send a message to someone I know even when they are offline and when the next sign on, they would get the message from the bot.

Basically it would work like ICQ or a little like email. I guess I, as a user, would type !seen nick and the bot would have to post the account info for that nick. Then I could send a msg to the account and not the nick (since many servers don't let you register a nick).

Have a Great Day!

For anyone that wants to know, there is a typo in the latest version, on line 80 and 133, the lines got wordwrapped.. just make them one line again and it should work. (also in the mysql table creation statement too)
