I would indeed suggest reading the readme again, there's a lot of usefull information in there.
But no you don't need apache, only PHP.
What OS are you on btw?

I'm using windows. People in this forum keep saying that I can't execute botscript from webbrowser, so where I execute it then?

I seriously doubt you have even opened the readme if you don't know the answer to that question.
Look at section 5 of the readme.
Keep in mind you need to take additional steps (also stated in the readme) before you can run the bot properly.

Well now I got it but now I got also "Fatal error: call to undefined function socket_create()". I found topic of that but even if php.ini is in windows dir, socket are enabled, extension dir is correct.. So what's the problem?

Try putting your php.ini in the same directory as php.exe

It can be confusing at first. I have a batch file that kicks off the bot.. all of this below in in 1 single line.

Code
c:\php\php -c c:\php\php.ini c:\php-irc2.2\bot.php c:\php-irc2.2\bot.conf

Have you configured your bot config file?

i use windows xp, and xampp, but i know we only need php5 :)

when installed i placed the bot folder in php folder., in my case c:\xampp\php\bot. then i created a .bat file, to be saved in the bot folder eg. bot.bat containing these lines..
Code

::begin
php.lnk bot.php bot.conf
echo bot has joined irc
::end

you can ofc create a shortcut of this and place on the desktop.

next i created a shortcut(.lnk) file for php.exe in the php folder then copied it to the bot folder and edited these lines..
target: C:\xampp\php\php.exe
start in: C:\xampp\php\bot

and this is fine for me. just keep reading the readme and command_reference and set your bot.conf up as you need if your bot can join irc and stay, that`s a good start :)

I helped a buddy with this bot on windows and you need to add the extension socket in your php.ini

Search for the php.ini for "Dynamic Extensions"

add below

extension=ext/php_sockets.dll

Or search for the php.ini "extension_dir"

replace with extension_dir = "ext/"

Start > Run > CMD > CD to the locations of your php > php path/to/bot/bot.php bot.conf
