The windows path variable has nothing to do with which php.ini is used by your CLI
If you do a "php.exe --help" you will see you can specify the path of the php.ini to be used by using the "-c" switch
I suggest you try doing and make sure you point to the proper php.ini (which has the socket extension enabled)

Hi,

I´ve got the same problem, trying to create a socket for a http request i need to do.

I´ve tried to copy all PHP-IRC 2.2.1 files in my php dir and it doesn´t work,

Then i checked the readme file and i did the changes in the php.ini and php5.ini, what i did:

register_argc_argv = On
extension=php_mysql.dll
extension=php_sockets.dll

I also checked the path to the extensions and it´s correct.

then i also configured the other things that are said in the readmedespite i think that wasn´t necessary (defines.php,etc)

I´m using xampp

thanks for your help

This forum is dedicated to the php-irc project, not php in general.
So ignore the readme and any other files if you're using this project.

Make a file which contains the following
Code
<?php phpinfo(); ?>

Upload that file to your server, open it in your browser, check which php.ini location it's using.
In said file enable the socket extension.
Restart apache webserver.
Done!

Thank you very much for your answer.

Unfortunately, now the whole computer is broken and i can´t check what you say, but i´ll try as soon as i can.

Finally i´ve decided to use my own laptop with kubuntu and it has no problems and works since the begining. I´ll try to persuade my mates to use linux in the project instead of windows (as i did with php instead asp).

When i check the phpinfo(), i´ll say if it works.

Then, sorry for using the IRC forum, but the style of the web is the same than php.net and i didn´t realize.

No worries, you're not to first one to mistake this for a regular php forum ;)

Good luck
